Thermal aging: why your skin ages in the heat even without direct sunlight
Sdílet
What is happening to your skin right now
When skin overheats, a chain of biochemical processes is triggered that leads to aging, entirely independent of UV radiation.
Heat itself triggers collagen degradation. Thermal shock increases the expression of MMP-1 and MMP-3 enzymes in fibroblasts, which lead to the breakdown of collagen and elastic fibers. At the same time, heat induces the MMP-12 enzyme, which specifically destroys the existing network of elastic fibers. Repeated exposure to infrared radiation is proven to lower collagen levels and increase MMP-1 in human skin. This process is called thermal aging and manifests as wrinkles and loss of skin firmness.
Pigmentation also worsens even outside of UV exposure. Heat increases inflammatory and vascular signaling in the skin, which in itself is enough to stimulate melanin production, especially in melasma and darker skin phototypes. And here is the crucial point: sunscreen protects against UV, but it does not block heat or fully block visible light. Moreover, visible light itself induces pigmentation, which is darker and persists longer with repeated exposure.
And if you think you are completely protected under a beach umbrella, that is not the case. UVA radiation reflected from sand, water, and concrete, plus scattered light, still reaches you. That is why shade is never a substitute for SPF.
How to protect your skin comprehensively: four layers of defense
Understanding thermal aging changes the entire approach to summer care. It is not enough to just apply SPF. You need to build protection in layers that cover UV radiation, heat, oxidative stress, and the renewal of damaged structures. Let's look at the complete strategy.
Layer one: UV protection with added value
EX-Some UV Cream SPF 36 PA+++
The foundation of any summer care is high-quality sun protection. EX-Some UV Cream is a Japanese mineral cream that relies on zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, the gentlest form of protection. SPF 36 means approximately 97 percent reduction in UVB radiation, while PA+++ provides reliable protection against UVA. And it leaves no white cast.
Why mineral filters. Zinc oxide and titanium dioxide are the gentlest form of sun protection. Unlike chemical filters, they do not penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and are tolerated even by the most sensitive skin.
But the cream does much more than just protect. It contains NMN, or nicotinamide mononucleotide, one of the most researched anti-aging molecules today, which acts as a powerful antioxidant and helps neutralize free radicals generated by sunlight. It also contains niacinamide, vitamin B3, which evens out skin tone, reduces the visibility of pores, and helps prevent UV-induced pigmentation, which is one of the most valuable ingredients in summer. And also three types of ceramides NP, AP, and EOP, which naturally form the skin barrier, retain moisture, and prevent water loss from the skin, which is absolutely crucial in the heat when the barrier is weakened.
The formulation is complemented by vitamin C and Stem Bio Complex for antioxidant protection and radiance support, and peptides including Acetyl Hexapeptide-8 to support a smooth skin appearance.
Reapply the cream every 2 hours.
Layer two: cooling and hydration
Fast Pro Nano Mist
Reducing skin temperature is the only way to stop the activation of MMP enzymes triggered by heat. And that is exactly what the Fast Pro Nano Mist targets, a Japanese nano mist with aquaporin support for when the sun shuts down the skin's water channels.
Aquaporin support is at the core of the product. Aquaporins are protein channels through which the skin transports water and glycerol. UV radiation reduces their activity, which is why the skin feels tight after sun exposure even on the second and third day. An ordinary spray only moistens the surface. Nano Mist targets the mechanism itself.
The mist contains Ectoin, a protective molecule produced in nature by microorganisms living in extreme conditions of high temperature, salinity, and intense UV radiation. In the skin, it creates a hydrating protective shell around cellular structures, supports the barrier, and helps protect against oxidative stress. It is exactly the ingredient overheated skin needs.
It also contains SILIDINE®, a patented substance from the red marine microalgae Porphyridium cruentum, which focuses on the appearance of microcirculation and the capillary network and is ideal for skin prone to redness and couperose—the exact state that heat induces. It also adds silicon for a firm and supple appearance and stable vitamin C with citrus antioxidants for protection against free radicals.
An interesting feature is the CO₂ nanobubbles, ultra-fine carbon dioxide bubbles that evenly distribute active substances across the skin and support microcirculation. This is home care inspired by professional carbon treatments.
Tip: keep the mist cool. A chilled application multiplies the effect of reducing skin temperature.
Layer three: renewal from within
Exsome Premium Supplement
Protection from the outside is only half the equation. The other half is supporting skin renewal from within, and that is what Exsome Premium Supplement is for, delivering 400 million plant-derived exosomes daily.
What are exosomes? They are nanoscopic membrane vesicles 30 to 150 nanometers in diameter that cells naturally secrete. They act as couriers of intercellular communication, carrying microRNA, proteins, and lipids, thereby directly influencing the behavior of target cells. In the skin, they participate in the regulation of inflammatory processes, support the proliferation of fibroblasts—the cells producing collagen and elastin—and help maintain the homeostasis of the extracellular matrix, the network that gives skin its firmness.
The key ingredient is pomegranate as a direct response to heat. Its polyphenols protect collagen and elastin fibers specifically from degradation by matrix metalloproteinases, the enzymes whose activity increases due to UV, heat, stress, and inflammation. Moreover, the metabolite urolithin A promotes mitophagy, the cleanup of damaged mitochondria, which restores the cells' energy capacity.
It is complemented by Centella asiatica, whose triterpene saponins asiaticoside and madecassoside stimulate the synthesis of type I and III collagen in fibroblasts; vitamin C from citrus fruits as an essential cofactor for stabilizing collagen structure; pineapple ceramides replenishing the barrier from within; and Cistanche deserticola, an adaptogenic desert herb called the elixir of longevity.
Take 1 sachet daily, for a course of at least 30 days.
Elastin W Premium
Everyone talks about collagen. But elastin is just as important in summer. Why? Without elastin, the collagen network is like scaffolding without springs; it holds its shape, but lacks resilience against movement and gravity. Elastin makes up 2 to 4 percent of the dry weight of the skin and is responsible for the skin's ability to stretch and return. After the age of 25, the body produces less and less of it. And in summer, there is the added factor of heat, which induces MMP-12, an enzyme specifically destroying the existing network of elastic fibers.
Elastin W Premium provides peptide-bonded elastin from two sources. Thanks to its lower molecular weight, it is absorbed significantly better than the intact molecule, and the combination of two sources ensures a broader spectrum of amino acids specific to elastic fibers, desmosine and isodesmosine.
It is supplemented by proteoglycan from salmon cartilage, which binds water in the skin and fills the spaces between collagen and elastin like a cushion, keeping the structure plump; and coenzyme Q10 and alpha-lipoic acid for antioxidant protection at the cellular level, with alpha-lipoic acid additionally regenerating other antioxidants such as vitamin C, E, and glutathione. The formulation is completed by fermented natto soybeans as a source of isoflavones, and L-cystine, niacin, and B vitamins to support healthy hair and nail growth, which are strained by the sun, salt water, and chlorine just as much as the skin.
Layer four: physical barrier
UV Lifestyle Collection
And now, the crucial insight that completes the entire strategy. There is no cream against heat and visible light. There is fabric.
No sunscreen can protect the skin from heat or the full spectrum of visible light. Only a physical barrier can do that. That is exactly why properly chosen textiles are the most effective anti-aging tool for summer. The UV Lifestyle Collection brings clothing and gloves designed to protect the skin where creams are not enough, thereby complementing the entire protection system with a layer that cannot be replaced by anything else.

Why a comprehensive approach makes sense
Thermal aging is a silent process. It does not manifest as immediate redness like sunburn, but cumulatively, in the form of wrinkles, loss of firmness, and pigmentation, which appear gradually and which we attribute to age, although they are largely a consequence of the skin overheating.
This is precisely why a single product is not enough. True protection works on all levels simultaneously: it protects against UV, reduces skin temperature, neutralizes oxidative stress, protects collagen and elastin from decomposition by MMP enzymes, and provides a physical barrier where cream does not reach.
Enjoy your summer to the fullest. But your skin deserves protection that corresponds to what is actually happening within it during hot days.
