What are spicules and why are they not all the same?
Spicules are microscopic needles of natural origin, obtained from freshwater sponges of the genus Spongilla. Under a microscope, they look like crystal rods: delicate, precise, and biodegradable. Their ability to create micro-channels in the skin makes them one of the smartest delivery systems nature has devised.
But not all spicule technology is the same. Most products on the market use raw sea sponges without thorough processing. The content of pure spicules in such products is often only 20 to 50 percent.
